making your move You can enter the squares you are moving to and from in the format A1 to G8 or you can click on the squares. Click on a square occupied by one of your pieces to move it and any other square for where you want to move it to. The chosen squares will be highlighted for you. You can also turn the board round if you wish ("flip board" at the bottom of the game board). Notification of your move is e-mailed to your opponent if they have chosen to be informed of moves by e-mail(go to "Your settings" to change this option for yourself). If you have the possibility of promoting a pawn you will be given a list of possible pieces to promote it to.

messages Any messages you send will be seen by the recipient the next time they view their game board. This could be the next time they log on or if refresh their screen (or the game does it for them). Messages are also e-mailed to the recipient if they have chosen to receive messages by e-mail (go to "Your settings" to change this option for yourself). Feel free to add html to messages (links, etc.) but note that any javascipt will be removed.

printing the board Because not all browsers or printers can print the game properly I have provided a printable game board which can be accessed at all times from the link directly under the board. This will give you a single image (jpeg) in a new window which should print okay and can be saved to your own computer.

information about players You can record information about yourself in the relevant box under "Your settings". Please take care over what you put here as it is publicly available. Anything outside of this box will not be intentionally revealed to any other player or browser. Information about other players can be viewed by clicking on their name in the players boxes above the board of any game they are playing, or on the link next to their name in other parts of the site. Feel free to add html to your information about yourself (links, etc.) but please note that any javascipt will be removed.
